Running Denver Blog

A weekend run followed by brunch?  Sounds like a fantastic concept.  Recently, I had a chance to learn more about it when I talked with Alexandra Weissner, co founder of bRUNch Running.

What is bRUNch Running?

bRUNch Running is a Colorado-based social running community that inspires individuals to get moving and eat real food. Founded by RRCA running coaches, Cortney Logan and Alexandra Weissner, the community hosts runs that start and finish at local restaurants.

How did you start it?

We started bRUNch Running out of our own personal habit. On weekends we often found ourselves going for runs or running races. After every run, we were hungry and wanted real food and mimosas!

How can one get involved with the group?

Sign up and show up! We offer a variety of community/training runs in Denver and Fort Collins. On the last Sunday of each month, we take over Denver Milk Market for a free run that includes a cocktail at the end! All of our upcoming runs can be found on our website!

You have an event coming up, what is it and where?

The bRUNch Run is an annual October road race in Stapleton Central Park, that we produce, that combines fitness and local restaurants. This year the event is happening on Sunday, October 13th and will be amazing! The morning begins with a timed fast and flat 5K and 10K race through Stapleton Central Park and ends with a huge brunch-themed food festival after crossing the finish line.

This is a family friendly event that welcomes participants to run with strollers and their four-legged fur babies. bRUNch encourages everyone to bring lawn chairs and or blankets to lounge while partaking in all the post-run festivities.

Participating restaurants include: Denver Milk Market, The Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar, Punch Bowl Social – Stapleton, Citizen Rail, Whiskey Biscuit, Syrup City Park, DC Pie, Ginger and Baker and Dunbar Kitchen & Tap House.

Beverages will be provided by Keel Vodka, The Real Dill, Sunshine Beverages, Teakoe Tea, Allegro Coffee Roasters, Drink Basis and Natalie’s Juice.

What are a few of your favorite things about the event?

This event is amazing and the best celebration of running! Registration includes run, scented finisher’s medal (we will be announcing the scent later this summer so make sure to check out our Instagram account), commemorative cup, unlimited food and beverages, swag and a morning with some of the best people you will ever meet!

What is the one thing about the group that you want people to know?

bRUNch Running is a community for runners of all ages, genders, and levels! Strollers and dogs are always welcome. We are here to be your coaches, cheerleaders, biggest fans and friends. Whether you’ve never run a mile in your life and want to start or have completed marathons, you will find your crew at bRUNch Running.

Anything else?
The bRUNch Run is an annual fundraiser for Metro Caring. As Denver’s frontline anti-hunger organization, Metro Caring works with the community to meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food while building a movement to address the root causes of hunger. Metro Caring offers innovative programming in Healthy Foods Access, Nutrition Education and Cooking Classes, Urban Gardening and Community Activation.
