USA Fit Denver is a group of friends that train together for fall full and half marathons. We believe that running and walking with friends is way more fun than doing it alone. And training with a group will help you conquer mental and physical barriers you never thought possible. We meet in different locations around Denver but typically meet outside of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wash Park. The group meets for Saturday morning runs and for Tuesday workouts throughout the season. We welcome all types of runners so no matter what your conditioning or pace, there will be others to train with! We have a great group that ranges from new runners to Boston Qualifiers. Our 2018 season kicks off April 14th. You can get more info on our website and Facebook page!

Running Denver

Let’s meet our final team members, Lolli and his Leading Lady, Kenneth Lewis and Danielle Huskey

Kenneth was born and raised in New Jersey where he spent his time as a painter. When Kenneth was not found with a brush in his hand, he could be found working out. If he wasn’t in the gym, he was in the park working out with his son and nephews or playing some basketball. Kenneth lived by the motto of “Just do it”.

Six years ago, Kenneth moved to Colorado to be closer to his son but that did not stop him from working out. He continues to work out daily and epitomizes a Colorado athlete! He incorporates walking, yoga, barre, body resistance and weight training into his schedule. If you see him at an event you may notice him with a set of weights in his hands and a weight vest under his shirt, but this doesn’t stop him from his notorious jumps on the course and at the finish line.

Danielle is a Colorado native who spent most of her childhood playing competitive soccer and traveling from tournament to tournament as part of her league team and the Olympic Development Program Team. When Danielle entered college, she put her working out and running on the sidelines which lead to a significant weight gain. After losing control of her weight she decided to take her life back while battle some major medical issues.

Danielle made some new friends and with their support started carving her way into the running community. However, a major knee injury sidelined Danielle’s effort and took away her competitive nature. Once again Danielle started to gain weight and loss control. She decided it was time to act again, but this time had to do it at a walker’s pace.

Fast forward to November 2013 at the Pepsi Center where Danielle and Kenneth met during a Denver Nuggets game. In each other they found a common interest of staying active and just doing it. On December 1, 2013 they did their first 5k together at City Park. It was the Rudolph Ramble as part of the RunDenver Race Series. Since this race they have competed in many 5ks, 7ks, 10ks and half marathons from the west coast to the east coast and can often be found donating their time and volunteering at other racing events so they can give back to the community that has supported them from the beginning.

Kenneth and Danielle thought there was no better way to support the RunningDenver community than to become ambassadors, share their story and spend time with friends and “family” under the motto of go “Beast Mode”. Danielle is currently the RunningDenver Outreach Director and Ambassador Manager and Kenneth is the man behind the mask. He has become one of the most loved mascots in the running community as Lolli with The Great Candy Run and all of the mascots in the RunDenver Race Series.

Running Denver

Terra Supnet Olsen moved to Colorado about 4 ½ years ago because her husband lost a bet. She got the house of her dreams and he got to retire all because of a bet. If you see her along the race course, ask her about it, a funny story. When she moved here, they added two new fur babies to their happy home, crazy daisy and Jude the Chunk, shiba inus. She was hired on with a local sheriff’s department and the husband got to golf.

Her husband was a fire fighter for the City of Bellevue for 25 years and she was a rescue diver for 15. She grew up in Southeastern Washington. She was an athletic kid growing up in a family of 5 brothers and one sister.

As a kid, she ran when she played but was never considered a “runner” even at sea level conditions. Her lungs couldn’t take it, “feel the burn” took on a whole new meaning. When they moved to Colorado and thinner air, she got the bug to take part in 5ks around the city. She loves the chance to wear goofy costumes, tutus, get tax-write offs and meet people, why not.

Colorado brought new opportunities to contribute to great causes, each 5k helps some charitable organization both locally and nationally. Almost 5 years later with over 30 5k’s and a few distance races greater than 75 miles under her belt and still loving the fun, people and health benefits this new hobby brings. She will be the turtle in the back-quoting dory “Just keep running” and trying not to trip over her feet. #runningdenverambassador

Tasha Steward-Childs has lived in Denver for 5 years. She ran in college and was pretty active until 2006 when she had a heart attack and was diagnosed with lupus. After recovering from the heart attack and diagnosis, she has run 19 half marathons, and too many 5 and 10ks to count. She is an active league bowler and boot camper as well. She believes that running is for everyone and we are athletes. #runningdenverambassadorImage attachmentImage attachment

Running Denver
Michael Medvig is thrilled to be part of the Running Denver organization. He is a fitness coach and has his own company, M Factor Fitness Personal Training, doing in home and online personal training. His specialty is corrective exercise, which helps sort out muscle imbalances, impingements, lack of strength and flexibility issues. In other words, He undos what modern society has done to us. He is also a Spartan certified SGX coach.

Michael has been happily married for almost 25 years. Michael has two kids (20 and 22) and two dogs. His son is in the Army stationed at Fort Riley and his daughter works full-time and is taking college classes. His dogs, Snickers and Mila, are not as ambitious.

Some of his interests in life are family, Spartan races, Half-marathons, BBQ, dogs, music and the occasional nice glass of beer or Bourbon. Most of the time in that order. #runningdenverambassadorImage attachmentImage attachment
